Dan’s Dinner Time Question – KGUA #157 (April 22, 2024)

For the April 22, 2024 KGUA Radio Writer’s Hour hosted by Peggy Berryhill and Mark Gross, we are asked to freewrite to “What Question” would you bring to the dinner table tonight?

Dinner Time Question

Funny, Mark, that you chose dinner time questions for this week’s freewrite.  Let me explain why, as I take you from Maine to Rhode Island.

163 miles in two hours thirty-six minutes

Yesterday, Hannah and I took an overnight to Westerly, Rhode Island to do some hiking in the Ocean State.  Fact is, though we have lived in New England for 42 years, we hardly know Little Rhodie.

Stepstone Falls

Selecting the Stepstone Falls Trail near West Greenwich, RI for our first hike, along the way, I ask Hannah the ninth of 36 Questions That Lead to Love.  (Click here for all 36 Questions).  Anyway, question nine is For what in your life do you feel most grateful?  We used that for trail conversation for the next twenty minutes.  By the way, my first three thoughts were meeting Hannah, transferring to Arizona State University as a college senior, and moving from Arizona to New England to raise a family.

Though these questions were designed to have people fall in love, Hannah and I use them to explore how we currently feel and talk about things we haven’t thought about in a while.

Tillinghast Pond

Moving on to hike the Tillinghast Pond Loop Trail nearby, we use questions #10 and #11 during our two and half mile hike in central Rhode Island.  #10 is If you could change anything about the way you were raised, what would it be?  #11 is gold!  Take four minutes and tell your partner your life story in as much detail as possible

So discussion questions have been on my mind.

As for a dinner time question, I opt for question #2 – Would you like to be famous?  In what way?
